User's recommendation: All I wanted was to find a store in my area that sells plain rock salt because I have animals and I want to keep their feet safe. I couldn't talk to anybody because I had to join something and then I would get reimbursed and you wanted a credit card number etc. That is a bunch of crap I was so mad that I probably won't buy Morton salt again so there you go

Incorrect product was packaged. Coarse salt box was actually fine salt. However, after calling customer service - they are very articulate, proactive and business oriented. Very impressed with this team.

Response from Morton Salt

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I complained to Morton Salt about their discontinuation of the lighter pack of water softener salt blocks - 4 blocks weighing 5 pounds each. These blocks were much easier to put in the salt container than the 25lb, 40lb blocks or 40lb bags of salt.

I had been using the lighter packs for over a year until Morton discontinued them. I wrote to MS asking why they had discontinued this product, as they were much easier to put in the salt tank for older or more feeble customers; that we have water softeners, too! I did receive an email from MS Customer Service that they would refer my request for lighter blocks to their product team; but they did not answer my question why the lighter blocks were discontinued and did not address what older people could do. My water softener people recommended salt crystals, which Morton makes in 40lb.

bags. I guess I'll use a pan to scoop the crystals out.

Salt bags too heavy for older people!

I live alone and am 74 and female. I used to get the 20lb.

(4 x 5lb) package of the rust defense salt for my water softener until Morton discontinued them. I'd like to know why. They were much easier to handle and get into the water softener. I realize Morton makes a 25lb.

bag of "clean and protect" pellets, but recently my conditioner people told me the best for my unit is crystals. Morton's salt crystals come only in a 40lb. bag! I can barely lift it, let alone pick it up and pour into my unit.

What about a disabled person living alone? You really should consider the aging population, most of whom I'm sure have water softeners. If you won't bring the 20lb. package back, at least consider a 25lb.

bag of the salt crystals.

Thank you. Patricia Murphy

Unacceptable Packaging

Morton Salt's "Food Service" 4 pound box packaging is unacceptable! The fold out pour spout is so flimsy.

If it does not break off with the initial opening, it certainly will not hold up over the everyday use of the 4 pounds of salt in the box. This causes the product ( Morton salt) to be stored in an unfamiliar container that has to be labeled. Safe packaging is not a place to cut corners! For 150 years Morton salt has been the "go to brand".

Some "bean counting decision" to use substandard packaging certainly challenges that. Simply put, Morton Salt should be embarrassed and bring up their standards for product packaging.

You can't get a hold of anyone at any of the phone numbers to ask a question. It just hangs up after you choose a "number" like 1, 2, or 3. Sending an email gets no response either! Worst customer service EVER!!!

Softner failed

I have called several times while watching the 1 year time frame dwindle. One time they sent a part I never asked for. Now they say to self diagnose by watching a video that tells how to disassemble the unit part by part. They said they would send a new unit several times, but due to "miscommunications" admitted by a representative, I am down to the last month of warranty.

Sea Salt

I have been a devoted buyer of your sea salt for many years. Lately you changed the container eliminating the pour spout. This has caused attempting to pour your salt into a shaker near impossible without a funnel. Now it seems you have changed the container again, and changed the sea salt itself. It is NOT FINE like before forcing larger holes in which to shake the salt out. The container now IS IMPOSSIBLE to use to fill a salt shaker. I do hope you change your process back to the way it was with a metal pour spout, and finer salt crystals. Thank you Ed Lamb
